We support
NDIS participants

Our son loves Ignition Gamers and looks forward to it every week. He has the opportunity to socialise and play all of his favourite games in a safe space. Ignition Gamers have been very welcoming from the start and assist with some of our son’s social challenges. Highly recommend!

Who Is Ignition Gamers For?

Ignition Gamers is designed for neurodivergent teens and young adults aged 14 to 35 in Canberra. Programs are led by Peer Support Workers with lived experience, in a welcoming community where showing up, however that looks, is always enough.

HOW OUR SESSIONS WORK
Every participant is matched with a dedicated 1:1 Peer Support Worker who’s got lived experience. They’re there for that person individually, helping them practise real social skills in a real group setting.

Sessions are structured around a game and skill of the week, giving participants a shared focus and a natural way to connect with others.

using your NDIS PLAN

Our sessions are typically funded under the NDIS Support Categories: 01 – Self Management Capacity Building, 04 – Assistance with Social and Community Participation, 04 – Group Activities, 09 – Increased Social and Community, and 10 – Finding and Keeping a Job (Employment Support) – using the relevant support item aligned to each participant’s plan and needs.

We focus on building social skills, confidence, and independence through structured, interest based activities. For participants with employment goals, our sessions also build the skills workplaces look for – communication, collaboration, decision making, and emotional regulation – and we work alongside disability employment providers to support the journey into work. We also offer a limited number of places for private paying clients who are not accessing NDIS funding.

SKILLS PARTICIPANTS BUILD THROUGH GAMING

These aren’t just gaming skills. They’re life skills.

At Ignition Gamers, every session is designed with purpose. Through structured, interest-based gaming activities, participants build real life skills that support their independence, wellbeing, and social confidence.

These outcomes align with common goals found across NDIS plans:

  • Social participation — joining group activities, taking turns, and building friendships with peers who share similar interests
  • Communication — starting and maintaining conversations, expressing needs, and practising active listening
  • Emotional regulation — managing frustration, staying calm under pressure, and developing strategies to respond to challenges
  • Independence — making decisions, problem solving, and building confidence to take on new experiences
  • Community engagement — feeling a genuine sense of belonging within a welcoming, inclusive group
  • Self advocacy — learning to express preferences, set boundaries, and speak up for their own needs
